Austin Landing: 5 things to know about entertainment, jobs, living
Posted Wednesday, October 11, 2017

The opening of the Cinépolis Dayton cinema at Austin Landing adds another entertainment option to the sprawling complex in Miami Twp.

The $12 million, 12-screen theater operated by the Dallas-based Cinépolis USA is the company’s first Ohio site. The theater also adds to the mix that Austin Landing and local officials like to call a “live, work and play” environment.

Here are five things to know about Austin Landing:

-It has more than a dozen dining/entertainment options. Most of these locations are either near – or surround – The Park at Austin Landing. Three other yet-to-be announced restaurants are planned at a two-story, 19,000 square foot site approved on the park’s north side.

-More than 2,500 people work within the development. Workers occupy tens of thousands of square of office space leased by more than 20 companies, including Teradata, one of the township’s major employers.

VisCap Development President Larry Dillin, Austin Landing’s manager, has said as much as 90 percent of the complex’s office space is expected to be under lease by the end of 2017.

- A $35 million luxury apartment complex – The Flats at Austin Landing – opened late last year and has more than 270 units. The complex, set on 4.33 acres, offers studio and 1- and 2-bedroom units ranging in size from 496 square feet to 1,155 square feet. Monthly leases go from $890 to $1,905.

- The complex is bicycle friendly. Austin Landing is surrounded by routes on a regional bike path. The complex has a 1,300 square foot stone bike hub on the edge of the park. The hub includes space for at least 20 bikes, air-conditioned rest rooms, lockers, benches, a repair station and a water fountain.

- Safety, parking and access upgrades have been made. More than $500,000 in improvements have been made to improve pedestrian access and traffic flow, the latter of which has long been a criticism of the development. This work includes signage, more visible crosswalks and more streamlined access to the parking garage.
