3 ways Austin Landing is boosting pedestrian safety, traffic flow
Posted Friday, August 4, 2017

Safety, parking and access improvements are being made at Austin Landing.

The upgrades at the Miami Twp. mixed-use retail complex are designed to provide safer and better flow for pedestrian and vehicle traffic, according to Austin Landing developer VisCap Development.

The work is expected to be completed this month, said VisCap spokeswoman Cheryl Dillin. The improvements, Dillin said, include:

-HANDICAP ACCESS: Work has been done on ramps to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act, “truncated” dome pavers are being reset and sidewalk repairs were made.

-CROSSWALKS: Colored striping has completed on crosswalks throughout the complex “to enhance the safety of pedestrians, and we are encouraging walkability” similar to VisCap’s Levis Commons in suburban Toledo.

-PARKING: Roadway improvements are being made related to the opening of the multi-screen Cinepolis theater, which is expected later this summer or early fall. They include upgrades to access to the parking garage designed to improve pedestrian and vehicle traffic flow. Among the changes: A drop-off/turn-around area for the cinema.
