Posted Tuesday, May 5, 2015

MIAMI TWP. — The Spicy Olive, a retailer specializing in olive oils and balsamic vinegars, will open its first Dayton-area location and third in Ohio at the Austin Landing development.

“This is yet another unique business that is not currently within our market,” Doug Barry, president of the Miami Twp. Board of Trustees, said this morning in a release.

Officials with RG Properties, developer of Austin Landing, said the new store will open in late summer 2015. The Spicy Olive’s web site says the shop could open as early as May.

The Spicy Olive operates two other shops, on Cox Lane in West Chester and in Hyde Park Square in Cincinnati, which owner Melanie Cedargren opened in 2012.

Shops that focus on premium oils and vinegars have opened in recent years at The Greene Town Center, on the square in downtown Troy, and in the Second Street Market in downtown Dayton.
